Pros And Cons Of A Single Stop Smoking Shot

Stop smoking shot procedures have been provided by treatment centers professing that merely one injection of the proper chemical compound can relieve the cravings which are experienced by smokers once they quit taking nicotine into their body. The concept is that this single shot is going to be sufficient to help you get over the challenging stage where the cravings are at their worst, and also the treatment centers are professing a high rate of success. The one shot treatment is expensive, even though it will take just a short time to administer, so you will have to be certain that this is the best type of treatment for you.

Before you go ahead with this type of treatment, there are several considerations you will need to bear in mind. The first of these is that most of the successful ex-smokers have achieved their present state by using no external aids, and have simply stopped smoking with no gradual withdrawal. This means that, in theory at least, you are going to be paying money for something which will actually lessen your chances of achieving a successful result. The claims of the clinics have not been verified by independent sources and are unreliable.

The most important consideration of all is that of the percentage of the addiction which is physical and that which is mental. When someone is trying to come off a drug such as heroin, the physical reactions are extreme. Only with medical assistance and a short time on a replacement drug does anyone normally find success in defeating such an addictive substance. It has been demonstrated, though, that the physical addiction present in tobacco smoking is relatively mild, and that most of the addiction comes from within the mind. This is borne out by the high success rates of hypnotherapy, which directly plants suggestions into the mind of the addict.

Smoking Cessation

A simple stop smoking shot will only give you intended relief from physical symptoms, and will do nothing to address the more important mental side of the quit smoking process. Therefore, it must be limited in its potential to achieve success even if the drug is demonstrated to be highly effective. Spending the same money with a qualified hypnotherapist is sure to give you a far better chance of achieving your goal. And, as of now, we have no evidence that the drugs used in these shots actually provide consistent relief from the physical symptoms of tobacco withdrawal in any case.

There is also the issue that a one time shot is going to provide the drug in a way that the body will find difficult to assimilate. Cravings for nicotine can occur at seemingly random intervals, which is one of the reasons that nicotine gum is popular as a source of relief. You can use it as and when you need it, giving yourself a larger dose at times of stress. This is the major argument against patches, because although they give out nicotine gradually they do not allow you to control the dose. An injection would have the advantage of finality, in that the smoker would have to give up completely at that point to avoid completely wasting their money.

At the current time, there is far too little evidence that a stop smoking shot really achieves anything for the expense to be warranted. There are many who believe that the drugs are entirely ineffective and that the clinics are taking payment for something they know is of no value. Whether or not this is true, there will need to be a lot more scientific testing and proof of value before any such treatments could be recommended. In any case, as the major addiction is mental it is hard to see how a great benefit could be derived from a single stop smoking shot.
